Created in 2005, the Institute of Digestive Disease (IMAD) brings together, at the heart of the Hôtel-Dieu hospital in Nantes (CHU Nantes), clinicians and researchers specialists in liver, digestive system, and nutrition-related diseases.
Unique of its kind, the Institute gathers more than 350 physicians, surgeons, healthcare and research staff, researchers, teacher-researchers, and students.
The digestive system is a vital organ system, essential to life, as it enables the body to meet its energy needs and regulates many functions that link the external environment to the internal environment of the body.
Severe digestive disorders include various conditions that significantly affect quality of life. Some of these conditions fall within the field of neurogastroenterology.
SantéDige is a private foundation that supports the development of actions and research projects focused on digestive diseases. These contribute to improving patient care in terms of prevention, diagnosis, and treatment.
The IMAD teams are based at the Nantes University Hospital (CHU de Nantes) and the Faculty of Medicine of Nantes.
